RUMOR: Mia Wasikowska and Zoe Aggeliki in Running to Play Johanna

Collider is reporting:

Sources tell The Playlist that both Wasikowska and Aggeliki are “in the mix” for the Johanna part, as Lawrence is said to be considering both big names and lesser talents. The Playlist was the first outlet to report that Gary Ross wouldn’t be returning to direct Catching Fire, so I’m inclined to put considerable weight behind their story. Wasikowska is an exciting prospect as she’s done swell work in films like Jane Eyre and The Kids Are All Right, but Aggeliki is a bona fide newcomer. She has roles in the upcoming pics R.I.P.D. and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, but we haven’t seen her act in anything yet so it’s hard to gauge who would be a better pick for Johanna.

The Playlist adds that both actresses have been in discussions for the part, but Aggeliki could officially sign on in a matter of days. That said, nothing’s certain just yet so Lawrence’s final choice could be someone else entirely. We should hear word soon either way, as production is scheduled to begin immenintley.

What do you all think about these two actresses for Johanna? Tell us in the comments below!

Rumor: Colton Haynes in the Running for Finnick?

Another actor’s name has been tossed in the mix for the role of Finnick in Catching Fire: Colton Haynes from MTV’s “Teen Wolf.” Blogger Brian Tuft says that he recently met Colton and talked with him about the role of Finnick.

When I told him he was my pick for the role, he told me that the three who were widely reported as having the role on lock [Armie Hammer, Garrett Hedlund and Taylor Kitsch] are not in the running at this point as far as he knew and that it was just a rumor. When I asked if this meant I should remain hopeful, he said yes. He has been in contact with the studio and has a meeting there next week. He kept it vague, and I understand completely. I imagine the studio wants things kept very much under wraps.

We aren’t familiar with this blogger and can’t vouch for the validity of his report, so please – as always – consider this a rumor.

Taylor Kitsch says He’s Not Playing Finnick Odair in ‘Catching Fire’

With the flurry of casting rumor surrounding Finnick Odair in ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’, Taylor Kitsch spoke with the LA Times to nip his rumor in the bud. The star says he will not be playing the beloved victor in the coming movie.

Finnick Odair, described by author Suzanne Collins as an Adonis-like womanizer, first appears in “Catching Fire” and has a complex relationship with heroine Katniss Everdeen. So admirers of the series were thrown into a tizzy this week when E! News reported that filmmakers had narrowed down the casting to three heartthrobs: Taylor Kitsch, Armie Hammer and Garrett Hedlund.

But you can knock one of those dreamboats off the list, because Kitsch says he won’t be joining the cast of the mega-successful film series.

Not going to happen,” the 31-year-old actor wrote in an email on Wednesday. Kitsch, who is coming off the poor box office performance of the big-budget films “John Carter” and “Battleship,” would seem to have fit the bill for the athletic, good-looking character.

Zap2It Contradicts Finnick Odair Casting Rumors

Yesterday E! Online reported that Finnick Odair casting for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was down to the final three. Taylor Kitsch, Armie Hammer and Garret Hedlund have been rumored to be the “finalists” for the role.

However, Zap2It is saying this is false. According to them many actors are still in the running for the role, and final decisions are far from being made.

E! Online reports that Kitsch, Hammer and Hedlund are the names Lionsgate wants, but Zap2it’s source says nobody’s in the lead just yet considering talks only began on Tuesday (May 29). Actors are still reading for the role, and the studio is strongly considering bringing in an unknown to avoid ego clashes on set. It’s easy to understand the mix-up — someone probably got their hands on the confidential memo going around that reveals the three men are currently on the shortlist of dudes we’d love to marry in a fantasy dream world. (Honestly, any list with those three guys on it is a win-win-win situation.)

The scenes the actors are reportedly reading for the role include the sugar cube scene where Finnick first meets Katniss and the scene where he hears Annie’s scream.

We’re still confident whomever Lionsgate chooses for the role will be great, we’ll be keeping our eye out for any official word!

RUMOR: Armie Hammer, Taylor Kitsch & Garrett Hedlund Are Top Three for Finnick Casting

The rumors surrounding casting for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire continue. This time E! Online says the casting for Finnick Odair is down to a final three.

According to one of their sources, the top three names under consideration are Armie HammerTaylor Kitsch and Garrett Hedlund.

And not only that, their source also reportedly says that the final decision from Lionsgate should be announced as early as this week.

Filming is due to get underway later this year with new director Francis  Lawrence taking over the reigns from Gary Ross.

As E! reports, all three actors have star stutus:

Hammer will next be seen playing the  title role in the Lone Ranger flick opposite Johnny Depp as Tonto. Tron  Legacy‘s Hedlund was also a big Cannes Film Festival headline with the  premiere of On The Road with Kristen  Stewart and Kirsten  Dunst while Kitsch can currently be seen in Battleship.

Reps for the three did not comment.

A Lionsgate rep said, “As with the first film, we won’t be confirming,  denying or commenting on any casting rumors for this title. We will announce  news wide when there is official casting news to announce.”

Robert Pattinson Falls For Catching Fire Casting Rumor

This is the article that came straight from USAToday.com about Robert Pattinson and all the “Catching Fire” casting rumors.

Robert Pattinson woke up Saturday morning at the Cannes Film Festival, the morning after his triumphant premiere in Cosmopolis, and saw internet reports that he was being considered for Catching Fire, the sequel to the The Hunger Games.

“I woke up this morning and saw all these things about me being cast in The Hunger Games,” Pattinson tells USA TODAY. “I was kind of curious for a second. So I called my agent.”

The response?

“My agent was like, ‘No,’ ” Pattinson reports.

“(My agent) was like no one’s going to offer you that part,” Pattinson says, breaking into a laugh. “I was like, thanks for the reassurance.”

Looks as if Robert Pattinson may not be offered the role as Finnick in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. But remember NOTHING is final yet. We will deliver the official casting news as soon as it is released. We are just as excited to hear it as you are. Hopefully it is released soon.

Is Lionsgate Interested in Robert Pattinson for the Role of Finnick?

Everyone in the Hunger Games fandom is waiting with baited breath for who will be cast as fan favorite Finnick Odair. Rumors have been circulating for quite some time and the latest one involves Robert Pattinson.

TotalFilm reported this today:

Word is that Lionsgate want Pattinson and his prodigious cheekbones to take on the role of Finnick Odair, a former tribute with an eye for the ladies, who gets dragged into the Third Quarter Quell (a Hunger Games contested by previous winners).

Now while we’re slightly sceptical as to whether Pattinson would really want to throw his lot in with another teen franchise post-Twilight, the fact that his Water For Elephants collaborator Francis Lawrence is now filling the director’s chair could make this one a goer.

The Huffington Post went straight to the source and asked Lionsgate if there is any truth to the latest rumor:

“As with the first film, we won’t be confirming, denying or commenting any casting rumors for this title,” Lionsgate told HuffPost Entertainment in a statement. “We will announce news wide when there is official casting news to announce.”

We know many fans DO NOT want any Twilight-Hunger Games crossover, so we want to hear from you! Can you see Robert Pattinson as Finnick?

Daniel Newman reacts to the rumors he will play Finnick Odair in Catching Fire

There was a rumor going around that Daniel Newman was going to be playing Finnick Odair in the Catching Fire movie. His name was listed on IMDb. Hypable decided to go to the source and checked in with Lionsgate who laid the rumor to rest.

In the meantime, Daniel put out a tweet the other day to say this about the speculation!
