“I relate to Gale more. I feel like my decisions would’ve been similar to his decisions in those situations. I’d be trying to figure out a way to stop [the Games] or fight back.”
I love that he can relate to the character in such a way that he feels he would have made the same choices. When you can connect to a character in this way, I feel it is something the audience can see and connect with as we watch the film.

The Hunger Games has been nominated in five categories for the UK’s Total Film Hotlist 2012

Liam Hemsworth – Hottest Newcomer – Male
Catching Fire – Hottest Book
The Hunger Games – Hottest Film
The future’s bleak in this gripping adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ popular young adult page-turner.
Perfectly cast as feisty 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen, Jennifer Lawrence plays a blinder, bringing just the right amount of sensitivity and severity to a tricky, multi-faceted role. She really comes into her own when Katniss is selected to participate in the annual Hunger Games, where it’s kill or be killed for entertainment’s sake.
Delivering a breakneck actioner as colourful as it is caustic, director Gary Ross doesn’t shy away from the novel’s barbed social commentary.

Liam Hemwsworth is on the cover of the May issue of Prestige, Hong Kong’s lifestyle magazine. This morning they shared their interview with the actor about how his life has changed since The Hunger Games, what made him decide to become an actor, filming The Expendables 2, Australian actors’ long association with Hollywood, what he has coming up next in his career and more. (note: that is not Liam’s Twitter name – he doesn’t have one)
Here’s an excerpt from the interview.
How have you been dealing with all the attention your life and everything that surrounds it has been bringing you?
I haven’t really changed that much. I still do the things that I’ve always done. It’s just that I’m at a different level now in terms of my career. I’m able to meet extremely talented filmmakers and writers and directors – everyone in the business. I’m just in a different position than I’ve ever been in. But, you know, my personal life hasn’t changed. I still go surfing and hang out with friends. I just feel very lucky to be where I am and to be able to make movies.
There has been an enormous buzz around the world following The Hunger Games. What’s it like being caught up in it all?
Pretty much the whole of March I’ve been travelling, doing press everywhere. It’s been awesome. I’ve never promoted something as big as this. So it’s been pretty cool. As an actor I always look for things I relate to in one way or another, or things that are different. And this is definitely all that and has a huge fan base behind it already. I’ve never been a part of something like that before so it has been interesting. Continue reading
