There’s sure to be a lot of Hunger Games love at this year’s Comic Con in San Diego. For those lucky enough to go, if they head to the Lionsgate booth they will get the chance to not only get a hold of exclusive Blu-Ray Disc box art cover but have it signed by some of cast.
So who could you meet? Lionsgate has announced that Alexander Ludwig (Cato), Amandla Stenberg (Rue), Dayo Okeniyi (Thresh), Isabelle Fuhrman (Clove), Jack Quaid (Marvel) and Willow Shields (Primrose Everdeen) will be on hand to meet fans on Saturday, July 14 at 11:00 am and 5:00 pm.
There will also be an exclusive Comic-Con Hunger Games poster at the Lionsgate booth across the four days of the convention.
For the new issue of V Magazine, Drew Barrymore photographed seven Hollywood up-and-comers, including The Hunger Games’ own Isabelle Fuhrman and Amandla Stenberg. In the accompanying interviews, the actresses talk about their careers as well as their roles in The Hunger Games.
To moviegoers around the world, the character Clove in The Hunger Games is a vengeful teenage assassin. But to Isabelle Fuhrman, the actress who played her, the character is more nuanced. “In my mind, Clove was never an assassin,” she says. “I imagined her as having a very tragic life with specific moments that drove her to become, for lack of a better word, crazy.”
Amandla: “When my agent called to tell me I was going to play Rue, I literally started running around the room and hyperventilating. I kept shouting, ‘I’m Rue, I’m Rue!’” she remembers. “My mother had to get me a glass of water and tell me to take deep breaths. We have it all on tape. It’s funny to watch.”
You can see more pics of Isabelle and Amandla, as well as the other five starlets featured in the shoot, at V Magazine.
During the recent Hunger Games cast mall tour, Hot Topic asked fans to submit questions for Josh Hutcherson, Isabelle Fuhrman and Jackie Emerson.
A few of the questions were:
What is it like being a part of the Hunger Games and bringing the characters to life?
Which district would you choose to live in?
How much training was required for the stunts?
What moment did you realize you were a part of something huge?
The Big Fan Boy has posted a video from a press junket that took place in Dallas during the first week of March with Josh Hutcherson, Isabelle Fuhrman and Jackie Emerson. The trio talk about how they learned about the books/movie and got their roles in the film, encounters with Hunger Games fans, and how their families and friends have reacted. (the video beings showing the actors about 45 second in.)
The Kid’s Choice Awards was flooded with Hunger Games stars yesterday! Josh Hutcherson presented the award for Favorite Music Group to Big Time Rush. Willow Shields got some slime splash from Halle Berry.
Dayo Okeniyi, Jackie Emerson, Alexander Ludwig, Isabelle Fuhrman and Amandla Stenberg along with Taylor Swift were also sighted on the Orange Carpet!
You’ve likely heard the disgusting news about some Hunger Games “fans” complaining on Twitter about Amandla Stenberg playing Rue in the movie because of the fact that she’s African American (same racist complaints were also made about Lenny Kravitz and Dayo Okeniyi). We don’t even think it’s necessary to take a side on this because the right and wrong sides of the argument are so very clear. E! Online talked with Isabelle Fuhrman last night about the entire controversy, and we couldn’t agree with her thoughts more:
“I think Amandla was fantastic in it, and she’s so beautiful,” Isabelle Fuhrman, who plays Clove in the movie, exclusively told me last night at the Valentino store opening in Beverly Hills. “She’s exactly how I imagined her to be. “I think it’s just terrible,” she continued. “She’s such an amazing actress and she’s so sweet. I guess people read things differently and imagine things different, but I think she was the perfect choice for Rue.”
E! Online also shared this statement Amandla released this morning:
“As a fan of the books, I feel fortunate to be part of The Hunger Games family,” Amandla, 13, said in a statement released earlier today. “It was an amazing experience; I am proud of the film and my performance. I want to thank all of my fans and the entire Hunger Games community for their support and loyalty.”
