EW.com shared the exclusive first look at the iconic heroine from The Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen. Katniss is wearing what she wore into the Games and it comes complete with a miniature mockingjay pin, bow and arrow, boots, and her signature braid. Bill Greening gives us further details behind her creation,
“I chose to dress her in the outfit she wears during the games, since this is where all the non-stop action takes place and is instantly recognizable by fans,” says Greening of the Katniss Barbie. “Of course, she wears her mockingjay pin proudly on her lapel. Hopefully Hunger Games fans can appreciate the attention to detail. The doll’s minimalistic style and details — such as her loosely braided hair and makeup-free look — also really embody the heroic character Katniss. I am a huge Hunger Games fan and loved all three books, so it was truly an amazing experience for me to be able to design the Katniss Barbie doll,” Greening says. “I think it really pays tribute to Katniss and The Hunger Games.”
The Hunger Games‘ Katniss Barbie will be available everywhere in August and for pre-order starting TODAY at 12 p.m. ET at BarbieCollector.com and various other online retail outlets. I have to say she looks alot different then I thought she would. Will you be buying Katniss?
Entertainment Weekly is coming out with yet another Hunger Games cover, this one is showing off their Katniss Fever!
Even the folks who were banking on The Hunger Games being a success were shocked by how many fans and not-yet-fans alike crammed into multiplex seats to watch Katniss fight for her life. “This has exploded beyond anything we could have imagined,” says director Gary Ross. “There are days where it feels like we’re in the middle of some national media event that has nothing to do with entertainment. We keep looking around trying to figure out how this could have actually happened.” Lionsgate is aiming to release the sequel, Catching Fire, around Thanksgiving 2013, but everyone will be returning to work much sooner. “It’s fantastic to finally have the movie out in the world and to see all of these people who love it,” says producer Nina Jacobson, who first picked up the rights to Collins’ novel back in 2009, “but at the end of the day we’ll roll up our sleeves and it’s on to the next one.”
The issue hits stands March 30th, or you can buy a copy here!
