If The Hunger Games Characters had to join Hogwarts Houses

As the Huffington Post points out, the MTV Movie Awards put two fandoms right up against each other – those of us that love The Hunger Games and wanted them to do well in their nominations, and the legions of fans supporting Harry Potter.  Then there’s a bunch of fans that love BOTH.

The Huffington Post decided to do a bit of a mashup and ask the question  – what would happen if  the characters from The Hunger Games were sorted into Hogwarts houses?

You can click here to see what they decided, but at least for Katniss, Peeta and Gale, this is how they see it:

Katniss: Slytherin

Slytherin might get a bad rap, but hear us out on this one — it’s not always a bad thing. As a tribute, she’s ultra-focused on survival, a classic Slytherin trait. If she were a Gryffindor, she might sacrifice herself in the Games so that another tribute could survive (the way Harry was willing to die for the good of others in the final scenes of Deathly Hallows). Instead, she’s a fierce competitor with a deep instinct to survive. Continue reading

The Disney Hunger Games

If you’re a lover of both Disney and ‘The Hunger Games‘, you’re in luck!

Take a look at this incredible artwork of Disney Characters as Hunger Games Tributes by blastedgoose. They have all been assigned Districts in preparation for the Disney Hunger Games, take a look at the artist’s description below.

District 1 (Luxury) – Aladdin & Jasmine

I had to choose characters who represented luxury, at the same time intimidating enough to be Careers. With themes like greed & temptation (Cave of Wonders) and Aladdin’s misguided notion that love be won with power and riches, they seemed to be a good fit.

District 2 (Masonry) – Shang & Mulan

Shang and Mulan is the only Disney couple who are both military trained, so it makes sense they belong in the District that specializes in weapons and Capitol soldiers. Also, I can def see them as Careers.

District 3 (Technology) – Milo & Kida

Who else imagined Beetee to look like Milo in the books? I did! I know Atlantis isn’t one of the more popular movies, but Milo and Kida fit in so well that I couldn’t leave them out! Plus the movie’s steam punk vibe totally fits the HG! Continue reading

New Hunger Games Character Profile Images from EW

In addition to the three new Hunger Games movie stills we posted today, EW also has some new character profile shots in their “meet the cast” gallery and these new quotes from Gary Ross and Jennifer Lawrence.

About Katniss: When her dear 12-year-old sister Prim is picked to go fight in the Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen demands to be sent instead. ”She’s this incredibly strong, unbelievably self-reliant, tough character,” raves director Gary Ross. ”She has this mother-lion quality where she’ll do anything for those she loves.”

About Peeta: Peeta is the baker’s generous-hearted son, who’s called up along with Katniss to represent District 12 in the Hunger Games. When EW asked Lawrence to pick her favorite character in the trilogy, she chose Peeta: ”He’s good and nice in a world that’s harsh and unkind.”

The Hunger Games – South Park Style

Meet the main cast/characters of ‘The Hunger Games’

Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss Everdeen)

Who she is: Lawrence shot to fame in 2010 with her Sundance hit “Winter’s Bone,” about a young girl from the Ozarks trying to track down her father. The breakthrough role earned her an Oscar nomination for best actress. Next, she’s set to costar with Mel Gibson in “The Beaver” and take on the role of Mystique in “X-Men: First Class.”

‘Hunger Games’ persona: Katniss is a resourceful teen living in Panem’s District 12. Before being chosen to fight to the death in the Hunger Games, Katniss spends her time hunting illegally and trading goods on the black market with her best friend Gale to help feed their families.

Josh Hutcherson (Peeta Mellark)

Who he is: He’s just 18, but Hutcherson has already enjoyed a long career with films like “Bridge to Terabithia,” “Journey to the Center of the Earth” and, most recently, the Oscar-nominated film “The Kids Are All Right.”

‘Hunger Games’ persona: A baker’s son, Peeta is District 12’s male “tribute” who develops a close bond with Katniss during the games.

Liam Hemsworth (Gale Hawthorne)

Who he is: Though he had multiple-episode stints on “Neighbours” and “The Elephant Princess” and was in “Knowing” with Nicolas Cage, he’s probably best known for being the on-again-off-again boyfriend of pop star Miley Cyrus and starring alongside her in “The Last Song.” His brother Chris is playing Thor in “Thor.”

‘Hunger Games’ persona: Gale is the best friend and hunting partner of Katniss Everdeen in District 12, one of the poorer districts in Panem. When Katniss was 12 and he 14, both of their dads died in the same mining accident. They’ve grown close over the years and make a good team, especially with his skill for setting traps and Katniss’ accuracy with a bow.

Willow Shields (Primrose Everdeen)

Who she is: The New Mexico actress is a relative newcomer with a TV movie (“Beyond the Blackboard”), a TV show appearance (“In Plain Sight “) and a short film (“Las Vegas New Mexico 1875 “) in her short list of credits.

‘Hunger Games’ persona: Prim is the catalyst of it all. She is everything to her older sister, Katniss Everdeen, and Katniss would make any sacrifice for her.
