Second Movie Officially Titled ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’

Although Lionsgate has been referring to the second movie in The Hunger Games franchise simply by its book name – Catching Fire – it looks like they’re now renaming it slightly to ensure that movie-goers know it’s the sequel to The Hunger Games. According to ComingSoon.net:

Lionsgate has announced a minor title change for the second part of their blockbuster franchise. Formerly titled Catching Fire, the Francis Lawrence-directed sequel to this year’s The Hunger Games will now be called The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

This make sense in following suit with The Twilight Saga, but we have to admit we kind of liked it better as just Catching Fire (rolled off the tongue a bit easier). :) Do you have a preference on the name of the movie?

  1. I don’t think it will matter – everyone will refer to it as “Catching Fire” anyway. This just makes it easier on the consumer to know the film fits into the trilogy.

And it will make alphabetizing the DVDs easier.
