We’ve now passed the 24 day milestone to when The Hunger Games hits theaters, and since 24 is also the number of Tributes selected to participate in the Games each year, it’s a perfect reason for Lionsgate to celebrate with #HungerGames24!
For today’s celebration, Lionsgate announced that there will be 24 advance screenings of The Hunger Games, sponsored by Nook, Barnes & Noble’s e-book reader. The screenings will take place March 21st, two days before the movie officially hits theaters.
So how you do you get involved in one of these advance screenings?
Tweet that hashtag in order to unlock the advance screening in your city
Starting March 1st, the first 4 cities to be unlocked (ie, the city hashtags with the most tweets) will be announced each day
Fans will be able to enter to win tickets to those locations as they are unlocked
And this is where the all important Sponsors come in. Lionsgate has partnered with 12 District Sponsors to each host 2 of the advance screenings, and each Sponsor will be offering 24 fans the chance to win a pair of tickets to their screening. You can search for the Sponsors on Twitter using #HungerGames 24 or the hashtag assigned to your city.
The Hunger Games Adventures allows players to create their own avatars (we’re already predicting scads of I<3Peeta and GaleRocks usernames) to embark on a Panem-wide mission, beginning in District 12 (where you may even rub shoulders with Katniss and the baker’s son), unlocking portions of the official map as you go. Yes, that’s right; this will be your first look at the official map of Panem. You know, just in case you’re in the midst of planning your next dystopian holiday.
Jennifer Lawrence not only graces the cover of the April issue of Glamour UK, but also Glamour US! Check out these gorgeous photos of Jennifer and part of her interview with Glamour US!
GLAMOUR: So, are you ready? JENNIFER LAWRENCE:I feel like I’m in the eye of the hurricane right now. I just recently started cleaning like I’m insane, and I’m starting to think it’s my anxiety over the movie. I think it’s a bit like, “I’m just cleaning the refrigerator handle. The movie’s not coming out. I’m going to clean it spotless, and then my life will not change.” It’s just scary. I feel like I got a ticket to go to another planet and I’m moving there and there’s no turning back, and I don’t know if I’m going to like that other planet or have friends there. It’s daunting.
GLAMOUR: But you thought about all of this before you took the job, right? JENNIFER LAWRENCE:I gave myself three days. I knew from reading the books that I loved The Hunger Games. I just didn’t know if it was worth changing my life for. I’m at a peaceful place right now. The people who used to ignore me at parties, now they’re nice to me and kissing my ass. But nobody’s staked outside of my house. I wanted to make sure that when I said yes, I wouldn’t regret it. And I don’t regret it. I would have said no because I was scared, and then I would have been that bitter actress telling my grandkids, “I’m the one that turned it down.” Continue reading →

Jennifer Lawrence graces the March cover of Cineplex Magazine, and aside from the beautiful cover shot, the Canadian movie mag offers an interview with Jennifer. In it, she talks about The Hunger Games, playing Katniss, and learning patience in show business.
Why do you think The Hunger Games has struck a nerve with so many people?
“Because it’s a story that reminds us of the worst part of humanity. We’re living in a world obsessed with reality television and our shock factor is constantly desensitized. It takes more and more to surprise us and interest us, and we feed off of other people’s trauma.”
Glamour has compiled “6 Secrets You Need to Know” from The Hunger Games. While some of the “secrets” are already known by most fans (other actresses who were up for Katniss, Suzanne Collins’ background in TV), there is some new and interesting info, plus two new stills of Katniss and Effie.
Katniss’s archery skills are real. Twenty-one-year-old Lawrence trained with Olympic archer Khatuna Lorig. “She shot about 100 arrows a day on an Olympic-style bow,” says Lorig. “Her technique was great!”
The movie used 35 full-time makeup artists. And there were more than 450 wigs on set to create the Hunger Games look, according to Linda Flowers, the movie’s hair director. For her freaky look as Effie Trinket, above, Elizabeth Banks was airbrushed with pale pink foundation and had a different eye makeup design for each outfit.
You can buy these eyelashes! Makeup artist Ve Neill used these super-edgy false eyelashes on Katniss and Effie for the final ceremony scene. Into it? They’re selling at paperselfstore.com for $19 a pair.
The spot features Taylor Swift’sHunger Games Soundtrack song, “Safe & Sound,” and includes some new scenes from District 12 (the bread scene!), the Reaping and a quick shot of Katniss in her bed in the Capitol. We can’t wait to see this in HQ!
