‘The Hunger Games’ is still seven months away from hitting theaters, but Lionsgate has just announced the release date for the next film in the series, ‘Catching Fire.’
According to the entertainment company, the movie adaptation of the second book in Suzanne Collins’ bestselling trilogy will be unveiled on November 22, 2013. That’s over two years away, but it’s still cool to know when fans will be expecting the film.
Josh Hutcherson talks to MTV about The Hunger Games’ fans and costumes. He calls The Hunger Games arena costumes “very practical” & says the flaming outfits are “very cool”.
The costumes in The Hunger Games run the gamut from extremely simple (in the Districts) to rather bizarre (in the Capitol) — but for the arena gear, Josh Hutcherson (Peeta in The Hunger Games) calls them very practical.
“They had to be,” Hutcherson told MTV, “not only for the purpose of the characters but also for us as actors because sometimes it was 95 degrees in the forest, and you’re running around and you want to make sure you’re wearing the right clothes and the appropriate attire and the right kind of shoes and everything.”
Like other cast and crew before him, Hutcherson won’t say much about the flaming costumes his character and Katniss (played by Jennifer Lawrence) wear earlier in the film.
“You’ll have to wait for it,” he said. “It’s very cool, I promise you. It’s very cool.”
Hutcherson also took a moment with MTV to reflect on the fan frenzy for The Hunger Games, which doesn’t hit theaters until March.

It’s the pink hair that did it.
For Elizabeth Banks, playing Effie Trinket in the upcoming screen version of The Hunger Games first clicked into place thanks to the character’s signature cotton-candy coif.
“I would be in the hair and makeup trailer and I was Elizabeth, and then the wig went on and very suddenly I was Effie,” says Banks, 37. “Every day I would have that aha moment, like, ‘We did it! We found Effie!’ ”
In the best-selling The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins, Effie serves as a publicity agent of sorts for the Games, a cruel arena battle that pits youths, called “tributes,” against each other in a televised fight to the death.
A new image of Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen has appeared today in a Business Insider article.
Judging by the plain clothes and wooden bow, this is surely a photo of Katniss hunting outside District 12 rather than a scene from the Games themselves. The rugged outfit looks great and Lawrence really looks like she knows how to handle a bow. What do you think?
